In October 2020, the company “Vianova”, in collaboration with the Viedo materiālu un tehnoloģiju kompetences centrs and Valmieras stikla šķiedra, initiated a research project titled “Development of a Manufacturing Technology for High-Strength Glass Fiber-Reinforced Asphalt Concrete.”

Project goal

The aim of the research project is to create sustainable bio-asphalt mixtures by partially replacing bitumen with renewable biopolymer lignin.

The aim of the project was to develop a production technology for high-strength asphalt concrete reinforced with glass fibers, improving its mechanical performance, resistance to cracking, and durability under traffic loads. The research focused on optimizing material composition and evaluating the performance of fiber-reinforced asphalt mixtures for road construction applications.
